My First Trip to Khatu Shyam: The Journey That Changed My Life
Everyone has someone in their life who motivates them. Thankfully, I have someone like that too.
One thing I have noticed throughout my life is that many people have come and gone. Some stayed for months, some for years, but almost all of them eventually became a memory. However, every single person who entered my life taught me something valuable.
But that’s a story for another day.
Right now, I am excited because tomorrow I am going to Khatu Shyam Ji with my family. Khatu holds a very special place in my heart because it became a turning point in my life.
Let me tell you the story.

My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life
My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life ( My First Visit to Khatu Shyam Ji )
This happened in January 2024.
Believe it or not, before that trip, I didn’t know much about Khatu Shyam Ji. In fact, I used to think that Khatu Shyam Ji and Lord Krishna were the same.
One of my office friends told me about Khatu Shyam Ji, and after hearing his stories, I felt a strong desire to visit the temple.
I asked one of my school friends, Himanshu, if he wanted to come with me.
To be honest, it wasn’t because he was extremely religious. The real reason was that both of us were going through breakups and trying to escape our sadness for a while.
So we decided to go.
We had train tickets, but our seats weren’t confirmed. Thankfully, Himanshu could talk to anyone. During the journey, he managed to speak with a group of travelers who were also going to Khatu and somehow arranged a seat for me.
That train journey was beautiful.
We met different people along the way. One man kept telling stories about everyone around him. When I asked him about my future, he jokingly said,
“You’ll spend your whole life crying if you don’t change yourself.”
After hearing that, I felt like punching him in the face. But after some time, I realized he was right, and I needed to move on.
My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life ( Meeting Neha )
The most important part of the trip began when we reached Ringas around 7:30 in the evening.
There, a girl named Neha approached us and asked,
“Can I walk with you?”
Saying yes was probably one of the best decisions Himanshu and I made during that trip.
Our original plan was simple.
Take an auto.
Visit the temple.
Return home.
But Neha changed everything.
She convinced us to walk all 18 kilometers to Khatu Shyam Ji.
And that walk changed my life.

Neha was only around 17 or 18 years old, but her maturity amazed me.
While walking, she shared her story.
Her family’s financial condition had become very difficult.
Their business had collapsed.
There had been serious family struggles.
Her father had even attempted to take his own life.
Listening to all this, I expected sadness on her face.
But there was none.
No tears.
No complaints.
No anger.
Just a smile and complete faith.
She kept saying,
“Baba will take care of everything.”
I asked her if she had a boyfriend.
She laughed and replied,
“Didi, I don’t have time for that. I have responsibilities. I need to help my family, get my elder sister married, and support my younger siblings.”
At an age when many people worry about relationships and social media, she was focused on her family and their future.
My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life ( A Lesson I Will Never Forget )
That night was freezing cold.
While we were resting, Neha was doing exercises on the roadside at 3 a.m. as if nothing could stop her.
Meanwhile, Himanshu was crying about his breakup.
At one point, Neha asked me,
“Didi, why is Bhaiya crying?”
I laughed and replied,
“His girlfriend left him.”
She smiled and said,
“It will be okay. Some things are simply not meant to stay forever.”
Those simple words hit me harder than anything else.
There she was—a young girl carrying responsibilities and challenges much bigger than ours—yet she was smiling.
And there we were, acting as if our broken hearts were the end of the world.
That journey made me realize something important:
Sometimes we allow one person or one disappointment to destroy years of our happiness.
But the truth is, if someone can leave your life so easily, maybe they were never worth losing yourself for.

My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life ( Reaching Khatu Shyam Ji )
Talking, laughing, and learning from Neha, we finally completed the 18-kilometer walk and reached Khatu Shyam Ji.
People call Khatu Shyam Ji “Hare Ka Sahara” — the support of those who have lost hope.
I don’t know how to explain it, but something changed inside me that day.
The peace I felt there was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
Many people say that whoever visits Khatu for the first time with a pure heart receives what they truly ask for.
I asked for only one thing.
I prayed that Lord Shiva would always keep His hand on my head and guide me through life.
And honestly?
I believe He heard me.
My First Trip to Khatu Shyam The Journey That Changed My Life ( Final Thoughts )
Sometimes we travel to a place thinking we are going there to seek answers.
But often, the real answers come through the people we meet along the way.
For me, Khatu was not just a temple visit.
It was a journey that taught me gratitude, faith, strength, and the importance of moving forward no matter what life throws at us.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
